Allerdale Council obtain bid to increase tenting amenities in Wigton

PLANS have been submitted to Council to expand Wigton’s camping facilities.

Allerdale Borough Council has received an application to extend the existing camping facilities at Wallace Lane Farm, Brocklebank in Wigton.

The proposal, submitted by Lofthouse Architectural on behalf of the applicant, will include the installation of additional solar panels, tent sites and permanent sites.

Additional camping facilities will be installed on greenfield sites adjacent to the existing site and a number of existing ground mounted solar panels will double in size.

The site’s owners are responding to an increasing interest in vacations at home.

In supporting statements provided to the council, Lofthouse Architectural said: “The proposed use would be to expand the facilities to meet increasing demand for pitches as more clients choose to stay overnight.”

The agent argues that the proposal would not make a significant difference to the area.

“The proposal is an isolated area with minimal visibility from the highway.

“The proposed additional facilities are just more of what is currently on site and would fit seamlessly with the existing facilities.”

The public may view and comment on any motion submitted to Allerdale Council for approval.
