‘Arctic 12’ Captures the Joys and Challenges of Summiting and Snowboarding Sweden’s Tallest Peaks

Last April, professional skiers Jackie Paaso and Reine Barkered, along with mountain guides Benjamin Ribeyre and Erin Smart, set out to summit and ski a dozen 6,500-foot peaks in Sweden in one go. If successful, they would be the first group to summit all 12 in the winter. The quest was anything but easy: it spanned 26 days, 200-plus miles in the Arctic Circle, and was made more difficult by fatigue and interpersonal tension. The new Kollektive Productions film Arctic 12, from Scott Sports, follows the adventurers’ journey over the rugged and beautiful terrain.
