Atalaya Outfitters opens as consignment outside gear retailer

Oct. 10 (Reuters) – An outdoor gear and clothing consignment store opened Tuesday at 142 Daniel St. near Dolina Cafe & Bakery.

Atalaya Outfitters went into the bricks and mortar after owner Kristin Pulatie had been testing her outdoor consignment concept online at since November and pop-up shops at Santa Fe Brewing Co., Rowley Farmhouse Ales and the Santa Fe Children’s Museum since April would have.

“There’s a greater pressure to make outdoor recreation more accessible,” Pulatie said. “Everyone should be able to play outside.”

Atalaya Outifitters, which operates out of a adobe house, carries “refurbished” or “gently used gear” as shipments from people who have outdoor gear and clothing that they no longer need.

Atalaya now focuses on winter gear such as skis, snowboards and winter clothing, but also has items for climbing, running and cycling.

“We now have a little bit of everything for every sport,” Pulatie said. “I would like more families to bring in children’s equipment.”

Atalaya Outfitters opening hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30pm to 7:00pm, Friday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. The shop is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays during this period.
