BG Parks and Recreation plans for ‘Halloweek of Enjoyable’ actions – BG Unbiased Information

The City of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department has announced its Halloweek of Fun activities. This year there will be eight days of fun activities for young people and families to celebrate Halloween. All of these activities are free and include indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. The activities scheduled for each day are as follows:

Friday’s Terrible Family Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt at the Wintergarden Conservation Area Friday, October 21, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m

Bring a flashlight from home and take a walk on the wild side of the Wintergarden Nature Preserve to look for fun pumpkins dotted around the designated trail (about ¾ mile). After completing the trail, the kids can pick up sweet treats. Feel free to dress up in Halloween costumes for a little pre-Halloween vibe. Participants can drop by anytime between 5:00pm and 8:00pm, there are no trail departures after 8:00pm. After the event, the pumpkins will be displayed in front of our nature center for the rest of the Halloweek of Fun.

The spooky Saturday mile at the BG obstacle course Saturday, October 22, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m

A 1 mile no time limit obstacle course with a fun, family friendly, spooky Halloween setting mixed with obstacles. Go at your own pace, avoiding any obstacles or mud you choose to avoid. The obstacle course is located behind the Bowling Green Community Center, 1245 W. Newton Road. This is a free event, but attendees must check in at the registration table to register and complete waivers before attending. The trail is open from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., no trail departures after 6:00 p.m. In case of bad weather the event will be postponed to Sunday 23 October from 4pm to 6pm

Sunday Slime Time at Bowling Green Community Center Sunday, October 23, 2-4 p.m

Kids and parents are invited to stop by the BG Community Center anytime between 2pm and 4pm to prepare their batch of two-ingredient Halloween slime to take home. (While stocks last).

Monster Mural Monday at Bowling Green Community Center Monday, October 24, 4-6 p.m

Teens and families are invited to help create a spooky chalk monster mural on the sidewalk in front of the Bowling Green Community Center. Sidewalk chalk is provided by Bowling Green Parks & Recreation.

Terrible Cookie Creations Tuesday in the Veteran’s Building Program Room Tuesday, October 25, 4-6 p.m

Fancy a cute and fun Halloween treat before Candy Day? Stop by the Bowling Green City Park Veterans Building between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to create a delicious Halloween creation by decorating a Halloween-themed sugar cookie with icing, candy and your creativity for the grand prize battle. (While stocks last)

Wicked Wednesday Halloween Crafts in the Veterans Building Program Room Wednesday, October 26, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m

Join us for some easy and fun Halloween arts and crafts projects while we listen to Halloween songs. This event is open for drop-in crafts from 4pm to 6pm. This parent-child activity requires an adult guardian/parent to assist the child. (While stocks last)

Thursday Thrills & Chills at Needle Hall in City Park Thursday, October 27, 6-9 p.m

Stop by Needle Hall in City Park to see some spooky black and white movies on screen and recreational games to play inside. Activities include Cornhole, Box Hockey, Giant Jenga, Yard Pong, Halloween themed Minute-to-Win-It games and more. Guests are welcome to bring snacks, drinks, blankets and comfortable chairs. A limited number of benches will also be available to view the film. Activities are offered from 6pm to 9pm, with films showing after dark between 7.30pm and 9pm

Awesome Friday Fun Day at Bowling Green Community Center Friday, October 28, 4-7 p.m

A day of fun activities and competitions at Bowling Green Community Center including pop-a-shot, box hockey, climbing wall and gym activities.
