Campus Recreation affords budget-friendly out of doors sources for college and workers

April 13, 2022 April 13, 2022

As the weather warms and there are more opportunities for outdoor activities, faculty and staff are encouraged to explore the resources offered by Campus Recreation.

The Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex, which includes Andy Quattlebaum Outdoor Education Center (Andy’s), can help provide affordable outdoor activities for employees and their families. From using the equipment on site to a $20 recreational kayak rental, there are a variety of options available.

The Snow Complex is Clemson’s premier lakefront community and includes a variety of amenities, including the beach area. Faculty, staff and students must present their physical or mobile CUID credentials to gate staff upon entering the Snow Complex.

The CORE program is housed at Andy’s and offers a variety of outdoor equipment rentals including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, bikes and more. Campus Recreation staff emphasizes safety when participating in outdoor activities and will inspect equipment during rental pickup and drop-off.

Access a list of outdoor recreation equipment and budget-friendly rental options through Campus Recreation.

Those with an active membership on campus can rent equipment. Tenants must also be COVID-free in the university system. Visit the Campus Recreation website for more information on memberships. Employees can explore and sign up for memberships online through payroll deductions.

Robert Taylor, Director of Programs and Assessment for Campus Recreation, encourages faculty and staff to take advantage of the resources provided by the Snow Wellness Complex and Andy’s.

“As the weather warms up, don’t forget that Clemson is surrounded by lakes, rivers and forests. Andy’s staff can help you get outside and take advantage of all the outdoor recreation opportunities in our area,” said Taylor. “There’s so much to explore, from kayaking on Lake Hartwell to mountain biking in Clemson Forest,” said Taylor.

Andy’s stocks adventure travel resources and outdoor recreation gear for enjoying the lakefront, and guests can rent a variety of exercise equipment during opening hours. Picnic areas, beach volleyball, and patio areas around Andy’s are available to guests based on availability.
