Colorado Outside Trade Summit Taking place September 19 in Salida – by Ark Valley Voice Workers


The second annual outdoor industry summit will be held on September 19, 2022 at the Salida SteamPlant Event Center in Salida, Colorado. The event brings together representatives from across Colorado’s outdoor industry for a day-long conference that includes training sessions, breakout discussions, panel discussions and exhibitors. The conference ends with outdoor activities and exploration of Salida.

The Keystone Policy Center’s Senior Policy Director, Earnest House Jr., will be the keynote speaker and will open the day with a discussion, Moving Beyond Acknowledgments.

The Outdoor Industry Summit invites businesses, community organizations and committed citizens from across the state to discuss and learn more about public land stewardship, sustainable outdoor recreation, business support solutions and workforce housing. All sessions will take place on September 19, 2022 between 9:00am and 5:00pm at the Salida SteamPlant Event Center.

The Outdoor Industry Summit is hosted by the Central Mountain Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and supported by a variety of regional and state sponsors, including the High Country Bank, the Chaffee County Visitors Bureau and the Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

Attendees will hear from representatives from Mountain Flow, TripOutside, Callosum, San Juan Mountain Guides, Clif Bar, Elevation Outdoors, the Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, CU Boulder, Colorado Mountain College, The Wright and others.

The Outdoor Industry Summit is the brainchild of Jamie Billesbach, Director of Central Mountain SBDC. “Since the pandemic, there has been an increasing trend of social entrepreneurship that shows a way forward by using all of our entrepreneurial energy to begin solving the community challenges our society will face in the years to come” said Billesbach. “The Outdoor Industry Summit is an opportunity for the current and future leaders in this space to come forward, collaborate and inspire the solutions to our most pressing problems.”
