COVID-19 hospitalizations are climbing once more in Arizona

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) – State officials said hospital stays from COVID are on the rise.

State officials said there are 601 new coronavirus cases and seven more deaths. According to the coronavirus dashboard, the new cases bring the state’s total to 866,623 and 17,367 deaths.

672 COVID patients will be hospitalized by Wednesday. This is the highest number since March. Still below the January 11 pandemic peak of 5,082.

The coronavirus dashboard reports that hospital admissions have been over 600 for a week. In April, the numbers were between 500 and 600. According to the Johns Hopkins University, deaths fell from 15.3 to 11.4 over the same period.
