PITTSBURGH, January 31, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — In celebration of National Day for Girls and Women in Sport (February 2nd), DICK’S Sporting Goods (NYSE:DKS) announced today that it will serve as Presenting Sponsor of the Women’s Sports Foundation’s NGWSD 5K & 50 Mile Challenge.
This inaugural event will be a celebration of community and the power of women’s sport. Participants are encouraged to participate by running, walking, biking, swimming or any other activity of their choice. the virtual 5K takes place from February 1st – February 28thwhile the 50 mile challenge begins February 1st and ends 23rd June – the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
At February 2nd, female athletes are also encouraged to participate in the National Day for Girls and Women in Sport social challenge #StrongerWithSports and demonstrate the strength girls and women play by participating in sport. Professional rugby player Ilona Mahergymnast Laurie Hernandez and sprinters Sydney McLaughlin belong to the group of female sports advocates who support the challenge. Female athletes are encouraged to post a sporting photo from their youth on Instagram or Twitter and describe how sport has positively impacted their lives.
