Dick’s Sporting Items Opens Home of Sport Experiential Idea Retailer in Metro Minneapolis


Minnetonka, Minn. – Dick’s Sporting Goods plans to open a new store this May in Minnetonka, about 14 miles from Minneapolis. The retailer also plans to hire more than 200 employees at its new store, which will be located at 12437 Wayzata Blvd. The House of Sport Experiential Concept Store will feature a 35-foot climbing wall, a baseball and softball batting cage, golf batting bays, a putting green, a hockey shop, a health and wellness center, and a service area for sharpening hockey skates and breaking in gloves stringing lacrosse sticks and building and repairing bicycles. The store will also offer community programs such as sports clinics, rock climbing, summer camps, yoga classes and birthday parties. In addition, the store will feature a 20,000-square-foot outdoor turf field and running track where the retailer will house open play, fitness and sports clinics and exercise classes for athletes of all ages. In the winter months, the field is converted into an ice skating rink.
