Department of Natural Resources provides support for outdoor recreational projects

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, June 10, 2021 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is now accepting applications for the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program. A total of US $ 150 million is available nationwide for outdoor recreational projects in 2021.

Eligible applicants include other state agencies and local governments, including special-purpose cities, counties, and special-purpose counties, such as park districts, within urbanized areas as defined by the US Census Bureau and with a population of 50,000 or more. The Census Bureau has published maps that demarcate each urbanized area. You can find them at: census.gov/geographies/reference-maps/2010/geo/2010-census-urban-areas.html.

The project request amount is a maximum of $ 5 million and a minimum of $ 300,000. The deadline for submitting a project proposal is Tuesday, August 10, 2021. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is the lead agency in Missouri and is currently accepting project proposals prior to submission.

The Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program (ORLP) is a funding program funded by the US Department of the Interior, National Park Service. The ORLP was launched in 2014 as a supplement to the funding program of the Land and Water Conservation Fund. It is designed to identify and identify new ways of promoting opportunities to expand outdoor play in areas of high demand, and supports the creation or substantial renovation of state or municipal parks and other outdoor recreational spaces in urban areas.
