€250,000 for 13 out of doors recreation initiatives in Donegal – Highland Radio

Agriculture and Marine Minister Charlie McConalogue today confirmed over € 250,000 in funding to support 13 outdoor projects in County Donegal.

The program is designed to help improve dozens of recreational facilities such as our mountain trails, forest trails, beaches, rivers, lakes, blueways and greenways.

These include the development of a parking lot at the legendary Great Pollet Arch in Fanad and the development of a 5 kilometer trail to the Standing Man in Ray, Rathmullan.

Hiking trails are also being developed in Creevey Ballyshannon, Maghery, Ranafast, Drumfries, Ranafast and Liscooley.

Meanwhile, improved signage and pedestrian desks are being provided for ongoing projects in Lough Derg, Drumharriff, Kilross, Gortlettra Stranorlar, Burtonport and Aranmore Island.

Donegal Secretary of Agriculture and the Sea and TD Charlie McConalogue says funding from the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme will further enhance Donegal’s unique natural amenities and help promote the county as an adventure tourism destination.
