Electrical energy price climbing | The Star


THUNDER BAY, ONT. – Synergy North Corporation electricity customers in Thunder Bay and Kenora can expect a 3 percent increase in the distribution fee on their water bill effective May 1.

The increase, issued by the Ontario Energy Board, is in response to an interest rate proposal from Synergy North.

In the Thunder Bay zone, the fixed monthly payout rate will increase by 3 percent to $26.40 and in the Kenora zone by 2.7 percent to $32.50.

Synergy North estimates that an average customer in the Thunder Bay area (using 750 kilowatt-hours per month) in the time-of-use pricing system will see their total bill increase by 0.86 percent — or $1.02 – will see. In the Kenora tariff area, the same typical customer will see a 2.01 percent increase, adding $2.46 to their total monthly bill.
