fifth annual Water Bash to happen at Bones Hooks Park

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The 5th Annual Water Bash will be held on Saturday, July 30 at Bones Hooks Park.

Tremaine Brown, owner of Shi Lee’s BBQ and Soul Food, is co-hosting the event with other community partners.

The public event features water balloon and water gun wars for kids, food, games and more.

There will also be special guests, the Amarillo Police Department and the Amarillo Fire Department, where children can have a police officer dip and be sprayed by the fire department.

During the event, children can sign up for free school supplies, haircuts, free eye exams, teeth cleanings, and clothing, which will be held at the 6th Annual Braids and Fades event on August 14th.

The goal of Water Bash is to raise funds for the other event.

This year’s goal is even bigger than in previous years.

“Our goal was higher because of inflation and things like that, we know there’s going to be a greater need for school supplies and things this year, so not just because we’re aiming high, we need more donations,” Tremaine said Brown.

Brown says the whole idea behind these events is to make sure kids are in school and ready to learn.

He also says that all children are welcome, no matter what part of town they are from.

If you can’t make it to the Water Bash, you can also register your kids at Bones Hooks Park this Saturday from 6pm-9pm and the following Saturday, July 23rd.
