Provincial police are investigating after uncooked hot dogs with fish hooks tied to a fence were discovered at a dog park near Bracebridge.
OPP said the hot dogs were found at Kerr Park on Beaumont Drive.
Bracebridge OPP is asking for the public’s help in identifying the responsible person(s).
The vet Dr. Trish O’Sullivan of O’Sullivan Animal Hospital said when a pet eats a fishhook, it can quickly become life-threatening.
“Hooks can get stuck in the esophagus, and that’s a very difficult area of the body to reach.”
The city said its staff are conducting “daily, weekly and monthly infrastructure patrols” and would “co-operate with the Bracebridge OPP investigation and take these matters seriously”.
City officials said Monday morning’s inspection found “no items of concern.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bracebridge OPP at (705) 645-2211.
