Gateway Outside Expo Introduced for 2023

From press release:

Gateway Outdoor Expo 2023 has been announced for Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1 at Tower Grove Park in downtown St. Louis. The event will showcase new outdoor gear, services and resources, as well as interactive demos and experiential attractions – all in a festive, family-friendly setting.

In addition, the Expo will partner with GO! St. Louis as the official package pickup location for the GO! 2023 St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend. That means all GO! Marathoners, half marathoners, 10K runners and marathon relay teams from St. Louis will pick up their running packages at the expo. The races are scheduled to take place in downtown St. Louis on Saturday and Sunday, April 1 and 2.

“By partnering with Gateway Outdoor Expo as the official GO! As the host of the St. Louis Marathon Weekend package pickup, we offer our participants an experience that goes well beyond the typical format of a race show,” said Mona Vespa, President of GO! st louis “Our attendees loved last year’s interactive experience, the wide range of vendors and the unique atmosphere. We look forward to continuing this partnership in 2023.”

The partnership with GO! St. Louis resulted in Gateway Outdoor Expo 2022 being the largest ever, attracting more than 200 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors over two days.

“GO! St. Louis hosts our region’s largest running event, and their mission to encourage individuals and families to adopt healthy, active lifestyles aligns perfectly with our own,” said Brad Kovach, Expo Director and Publisher/Editor Terrain Magazine, “We are very excited to continue this partnership and work together to make both events even better and more inclusive.”

Big news for 2023 is that Gateway Outdoor Expo will go outdoors for the first time in its history when held in the northeast quadrant of Tower Grove Park. Admission to the event is free to the public, making it more welcoming and accessible than ever.

“We’re really excited to be taking the Expo out where it really belongs,” Kovach said. “Tower Grove Park is not only a beautiful place, but its openness gives us the opportunity to offer additional vendors and activities to inspire people to get outside and have meaningful experiences in nature.”

Gateway Outdoor Expo will highlight activities such as running, biking, hiking, camping, rock climbing and paddling, as well as adventure travel, health and wellness and more. The special features include:

  • Climbing wall: Test your skills on various routes with different levels of difficulty. The wall is 23 feet tall with holds and features that simulate a real rock surface.
  • Mountain Bike Demo Course. In this area, Expo visitors can try out a mountain bike on simulated off-road obstacles.
  • Mobile Life Exhibitors: Check out the latest overland vehicles, adventure vans, mini travel trailers and toy transporters and take your future outdoor excursions to the streets.
  • VIP Party: Rub elbows with Expo vendors and enjoy select food and beverages at this celebratory mixer on the evening of Thursday, March 30th.

Both Gateway Outdoor Expo and Terrain Magazine are operated by River City Outdoors, a local non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities through which all St. Louisans learn about outdoor recreation and the spiritual, physical and emotional can experience benefits that go hand in hand.
