Have fun Get Outdoor Day Saturday, June four at Memorial Park

The City of Colorado Springs Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services is partnering with Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance (PPORA) to host the Get -Celebrate Outdoor Day at Prospect Lake in Memorial Park. This free community event features a wide variety of outdoor activities including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, archery and more. The first 800 children will receive a free fishing pole thanks to CPW.

“We are fortunate to live in a place where there are countless outdoor opportunities available to us,” said Tim Kroening, Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Area wildlife manager for the Pikes Peak region. “This event provides an opportunity for the whole family to learn about the many recreational activities in the Pikes Peak region. You even have the opportunity to try some of these activities for free. Please join us and have a fun day outdoors.”

“Get Outdoors Day is a fun day out for the whole family,” said Becky Leinweber, Managing Director of PPORA. “It’s a fun way to connect people with the unparalleled outdoor recreation opportunities and organizations here in the Pikes Peak region. Participants can try a new outdoor activity, learn how to responsibly rebuild using Leave No Trace principles, and more.”

CPW hosted the first Get Outdoors Day in Colorado Springs in 2016. The annual event will be back in 2022 after being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.
