Heat climate delays opening of Ann Arbor out of doors ice area


ANN ARBOR – The Buhr Park outdoor ice arena opens later than planned for the winter season.

Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation announced on the arena’s website that warm temperatures are postponing the opening of the ice arena to Saturday, November 19.

The outdoor skating season is expected to start on November 5th and last until March 26th.

Admission to the Buhr Outdoor Ice Arena is $6 for adults, $5 for under 17s and seniors, and $3 for skate rentals.

For frequent visitors, stamp cards can be bought for 10 or 30 visits. Adult tickets for 10 visits are $50 or $128 for 30 visits. Punch passes for youth and seniors are $40 for 10 visits and $115 for 30 visits.

The ice arena features hockey sessions and drop-in hockey times for men, women, and children.

Here’s when the arena is open to the public:

  • Sunday | 15:15-17:30

  • Monday | 3:30pm-4:30pm (Half price entry)

  • Wednesday | 4:45pm-5:45pm (Half price entry)

  • Thursday | 3:30pm-4:30pm (Half price entry)

  • Friday | 7-8:45 p.m

  • Saturday| 2:45pm-4:30pm; 19:15-20:30

Outdoor Arena is Nov 24, Nov 24-25 Dec and 1 Jan closed.
