Students collected buckets at a Bonnyrigg Rose football game
STUDENTS at Lasswade Primary in Bonnyrigg are looking forward to a camping adventure thanks to a donation from local builders Walker Group.
The first 7 youngsters are raising funds for a two day summer camping trip in Ford Castle, Northumberland where they will enjoy archery, kayaking and orienteering as well as a silent disco and roasted marshmallows by the fire. Students have looked at ways to fund the trip including bag packing at supermarkets, flea markets, Grow a Pound and bucket collections at local sports clubs.
The Walker Group, part of Springfield Group, has agreed to support the school’s fundraising efforts with up to £1,000.
The developers are building new houses in One Dalhousie, just a few minutes’ walk from the school. Development Advisor Luca Tropea said: “An important part of our ethos at Walker, and indeed all home construction brands within the Springfield Group, is to support local schools, charities and groups wherever possible. It is great that we can offer support to Lasswade Primary students so that any children who wish to go can enjoy their summer camping trip.
“We are particularly pleased to see the children working so hard to raise their own funds to make their journey possible and excited to add to their activities.”
