Housing Options in Rural Recreation Communities | Native Information


WASHINGTON, DC – Gateway communities are located just outside or adjacent to major tourist attractions such as national parks, wilderness areas or nature resorts. Many of these communities face numerous housing challenges including – lack of affordable housing, available financing and rapid population growth. The webinar will highlight federal resources and private sector strategies that are helping communities leverage their outdoor recreation and tourism facilities to address housing solutions and improve economic resilience.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Community Revitalization, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA RD), and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) invite communities to a webinar focused on housing in gateway communities.

Topics covered:

Overview of USDA RD funding opportunities and HUD federal programs to support housing projects.

King City, California will offer unique strategies that meet the housing needs of the Central Coast wine region near Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.

Jackson Land Trust will outline the public-private partnership with the US Forest Service and the National Park Service in Wyoming.
