Beau Curtis is great with people.

The Port Stephens man not only knows how to help holidaymakers maximize their downtime, but he also knows how to get his team to embrace his “can do” attitude.

After a decade at Ingenia Holiday Parks One Mile Beach, Beau was recognized for these qualities, winning Young Achiever of the Year for Holiday Parks at the Caravaning and Camping Industry Association’s 2022 NSW Awards for Excellence.

Accepting his award at a ceremony at Randwick Racecourse last week, he said he was honored.

“It was definitely a shock to the system to hear them call my name – I wasn’t expecting to win but I’m really grateful to be recognized,” he explained.

“There were so many other great nominees so it was an honor to be nominated among them.

“Working in the tourism industry is such an exciting experience and I really love my job and my team at One Mile Beach.”

During his 10-year tenure at the beachfront property, Beau was instrumental in launching a number of new initiatives, including a cashless system at the park’s laundry facility and marketing initiatives with local sports clubs.

Matthew Young, General Manager Tourism for Ingenia Holiday Parks, said the award is a recognition of Beau’s continued high level of guest service, leadership and project management.

“Beau’s breadth of experience allows him to bring the best out of his team, with his attention to detail being driven by his time in various roles at the park to ensure the guest experience is optimal at all touchpoints,” said Mr. Young.

“He has played a pivotal role in managing local marketing initiatives including jersey sponsorship for the Nelson Bay Marlins Junior Ruby League Club, the Bay Area Board Riders surfing competition and the Anna Bay Public School playground fundraiser.

“He has provided invaluable support to the team and is always willing to step in and help in any way he can – his ‘can do’ attitude is the epitome of leading by example.”
