MARSHFIELD – Marshfield ushered in a new era of recreation on July 23rd. The new Vandehey Waters Outdoor Aquatic Center opened to the general public for the first time. Jon Vandehey – whose family was the largest private donor to the project – called it a great day for the town of Marshfield.
Jon and Annette Vandehey donated more than $ 1 million to commemorate and honor Jon’s parents, Frank and Pat Vandehey.
The replacement for the former Hefko pool opened at 3 p.m. on July 23, after the ribbon was cut for the nearly $ 7 million facility. Almost half of the money was generated through private donations. Seeking donations from the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, Stacey Schultz said many people donated to the project for a variety of reasons.
