SUNDAY—The annual JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge Ethics and Sportsmanship) event will be held Saturday (June 4) at Franklin County Recreation Park in Sontag.

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is aimed at young people up to the age of 17.

Participation is free.

Youngsters can participate in archery, fishing, canoeing, shooting and other outdoor activities.

The event is hosted by the Franklin County Longbeards, the chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF).

The event has received state and national awards in recent years.

Boys basketball camp starts MondayThe Franklin County Boys’ Basketball Program hosts and hosts its annual Summer Youth Basketball Camp Monday through Friday, June 6-10.

The meetings will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The gyms of Samuel M. Hawkins, Harold W. Ramsey and Roy M. Law are used for this camp.

The CHA golf tournament is scheduled for June 11thThe HARDY—Christian Heritage Academy is hosting its annual golf tournament benefit on Saturday, June 11th at the Copper Cove Golf Club.

Proceeds benefit the school’s sports program.

The format is Captain’s Choice for four players.

Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers and winners of the longest drive and the contests closest to the pins.

Registration is $300 per team. It includes all golf fees, door prizes, dinner and a prize giving ceremony after the tournament.

Benefit golf tournament is on 18The Franklin County Wrestling Program is hosting a benefit golf tournament on Saturday, June 18th at the Willow Creek Country Club.

On-site registration is possible from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m

The format is Captain’s Choice for four players.

Fee includes mulligan and red tee.

Refreshments and snacks are offered throughout the day.

After the game is over, there will be a meal and an awards ceremony.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second, third and last place, as well as winners of the Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive contests.

This tournament benefits the Franklin County and Benjamin Franklin Middle School wrestling teams as they can purchase new equipment and offset travel expenses to tournaments throughout the year.

The bowling tournament is scheduled for June 24thRocky Mount Fire Department Auxiliary is hosting a bowling tournament on Friday, June 24th.

Rocky Mount Bowling Center hosts the tournament from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m

24 four-player teams are required.

The cost is $100 per team and includes three games and shoe rental.

No refund will be made.

Discounts can be purchased, outside food and drinks are not allowed.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

There will be draws for door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.

Brick fundraiser continuesFranklin County Athletics is running its Brick campaign to support its student athletes.

Personalized bricks can be purchased at www.bricksrus.com/donorsite/fceagles.

The bricks will be laid at the main entrances to CI (Cy) Dillon Stadium/Fred M. Brown Memorial Field.

Patrons can commemorate former Franklin County student athletes and supporters by purchasing one or more bricks or place a memorial.

HOF nominations are acceptedFranklin County High School is accepting nominations for its Hall of Fame Class of 2022.

Nomination forms are available at the High School Athletics website, the High School Athletics Office, and the Franklin County School Division Central Office.

Nominations will be accepted through Wednesday, August 10th.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school has not anchored a Class of 2020. The Hall of Fame has 20 members: eight from the inaugural class in 2018 and seven from the second class in 2019 and five from the third class in 2021.
