Labor Day Weekend Tenting – ABC 6 Information

(ABC 6 News) – Millions of people are heading out for one last camping trip before the kids go back to school.

A recent travel survey conducted by Triple A says that around 53% of Americans plan to travel this Labor Day weekend. Many of them will get into their sticks for a camping trip.

The camp site at Oxbow Park was packed with campers looking to escape the madness of life. Earl Plashcourt, like many others, arrived early Friday afternoon to get ready for his party.

“We come here every summer,” Plashcourt said. “We usually come earlier but it sounds like we’re having nice weather so it should be a good time.”

Plashcourt and his family came down from Medford to enjoy their last summer trip.

But even if you don’t plan to do any weekend shopping, Oxbow Park has a number of trails that hikers can spend the day on.

Matthew Haackey regularly takes his family to the park.

“The kids love being outside, so this is a great place to come for free and see some cool animals,” Haackey said.

Park officials remind campers or day visitors to pay special attention to food while at the park; To help prevent close encounters with wildlife.

The Zollman Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Labor Day Weekend.
