The Maine Outdoor Film Festival’s 3rd Annual Flagship Portland Festival features 70 films from local, national and international filmmakers spanning a wide spectrum of outdoor adventure and conservation work. Running July 28 through August 14, MOFF will feature 11 unique outdoor film programs over three weekends at three different Portland venues. Admission begins at 7pm each night, with shows starting at 8pm and ending around 10pm. Tickets for each screening are available for $15. Weekend passes and “Gold Passes” with full festival entry are also available. Panel discussions, fireside chats with filmmakers, MOFF Field Day (an all-day event on August 13 featuring the Maine Outdoor Brands Yard Sale, live music, local food trucks and craft beverages for adults) will accompany this year’s festival program. For people who cannot attend the festival in person, virtual screenings of each program will be available from 8 p.m. Visit the MOFF website for more information and the screening information for each festival program.

MOFF 2022 features six world premieres, six US premieres and 12 Maine premieres. And of the 70 films in the MOFF this year, 17 were either shot in Maine or created by a Maine filmmaker. “We’ve received more full-length feature submissions so far this year. And we have more films by women filmmakers this year,” said Nick Callanan, MOFF Founder and Festival Director. “Filmmakers ask big questions and have a lot to say right now. MOFF is an opportunity for people to come together and take a moment to truly connect with the filmmaker’s story and perspective. And have a little fun at the same time! Is there anything better than enjoying a movie with nice people outside on a beautiful Maine summer evening?”

While festival-goers can look forward to experiencing the thrill and excitement of nature. Whatever your outdoor passion, MOFF 2022’s acclaimed collection of independent outdoor films is sure to inspire, spread joy and deepen understanding through this festival that celebrates the power and beauty of nature.

MOFF is excited and grateful for this year’s festival partners. The first weekend of MOFF begins with a return to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) on July 28-30. “GMRI and MOFF have a shared commitment to connecting the people and communities of Maine. We are excited that our lab will be the setting for these important conversations and films,” said Maggie Roudsari, GMRI’s Chief Development Officer. Festival-goers will enjoy views of Casco Bay from the Eastern Promenade as the backdrop to their viewing experience during the second weekend of MOFF, August 4-7. And MOFF is excited to wrap up its third and final weekend of après, August 11-14, at the charming industrial-chic establishment in the heart of Portland’s thriving Bayside neighborhood.

Mike Cardente, Owner/Operator of Après shares this sentiment: “Even before we opened our doors, Après has always been about creating an intersectional space where the community can come together to celebrate crafts, arts, recreation and Celebrating nature conservation, of course: great drinks. As native Mainers, we feel that so much of our identity is tied to the natural splendor right on our doorstep, so the opportunity to host the Maine Outdoor Film Festival so early in our time here on Anderson Street feels like a real homecoming!”
