Man arrested after climbing and leaping on ‘model new’ police automobile

A man has been arrested after damaging a police car in an act of vandalism. The 30-year-old man was arrested Friday night (April 29) after climbing and jumping on the ‘brand new’ police vehicle downtown.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the man remained in police custody this morning. The police car is now also undergoing necessary repair work.

In a statement, a police spokesman said: “Last night one of our brand new police cars was damaged. A 30-year-old man found it funny to climb on the car and jump up and down.

“The sad reality is that there is one less vehicle that we have to respond to while it is being repaired. He was arrested and remains in police custody.”

In another motor vehicle-related incident this week, police arrested three people after a stolen car drove the wrong way down the M60. The trio were first spotted inside a Volkswagen vehicle that was believed to have been stolen following a recent break-in.
