Metro Council passes ordinance banning tenting on public grounds

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The East Baton Rouge Municipality Metro Council has passed an ordinance making it illegal for people to camp or pitch a tent on a driveway.

The vote was seven councilors in favor of the regulation and five councilors against.

There is no prison sentence associated with this ordinance.

Penalties would be either a fine or community service.

There were many people speaking for and against this ordinance and the impact it would have on the borough’s homeless community.
