MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – It’s a national holiday that gets you moving.
Today, many around the world celebrate the annual Walk in the Park Day, including some people right here in our own backyard.
Although it was quite a windy day, many still braved the windy weather to stay active.
Today the City of Midland Parks and Recreation hosted its first day of free activities at The Windlands Park.
Families came to the park to enjoy jumping, scavenger hunts, a corn hole tournament, face painting and more.
Friends of Windlands Park even got involved in the holidays by cleaning up the park.
City of Midland Recreations Manager Joey Jolly says the event was created to keep you moving.
That way we can get people back out after Covid to get people back out and train in the park,” Jolly said. “As more family time and just more events happen and bring people together to have fun, safe family events.”
The Recreation Department plans to host the event annually and rotate the event among its 50 other parks around the city.
And if you didn’t get a chance to go to the Windlands today, there’s still time to lace up and head outside.
