A dozen federal and state agencies met in Genoa on Wednesday to sign the Nevada Agreement for Recreation Shared Stewardship.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak said the agreement is a major victory for all families and visitors to Nevada, which bolsters collective efforts to protect the environment, fight climate change, strengthen recreation and ecotourism efforts, and ensure access for all will encourage people to take advantage of the state’s leisure facilities.

He said the goal is to create a strategic plan to advance sustainable outdoor recreation and support healthy communities and a vibrant economy, as well as promote environmental protection.

He was joined by half a dozen state officials representing departments such as Conservation and Natural Resources, the Department of Outdoor Recreation, State Parks, Wildlife, the Department of Tourism and the Department of Transportation.

Federal signatories represented the National Park Service, USDA Forest Service, BLM, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Reclamation.
