Medicine Bow Routt-National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland have developed a web-based resource site to help determine where, when and how electric bicycles may be used.

The online resource is designed to highlight local regulations, safety tips and national guidelines for the increasingly popular recreational activity.

One of the key points is that Medicine Bow Routt-National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland categorize electric bicycles as motorized vehicles, meaning all bicycles must remain on motorized roads and trails.

Ultimately, it is the visitor’s responsibility to know where they are and what types of restrictions there may be when accessing public land. A complete map of motorized roads and trails is available at FS.USDA.gov.
