Northridge has passed every test he has faced this high school football season and stands at 6-0. It defeated Gordo in a back and forth 24-21 fight at home on Friday.
The Jaguars held four-star Oregon Tanner Bailey and Gordo (4-2, 2-1) in check to win their first game with a possession this season. It’s good for Northridge (6-0, 3-0) to play a highly competitive game before returning to Class 6A Region 4 competition next week with a street game in Hillcrest.
The Jaguars also started last season 6-0 before ending the regular season 7-3. Limiting an offensive, albeit a 4A attack, led by a four-star quarterback, is a positive step into a difficult final phase.
It will take Northridge’s best football in each position group to get into the playoffs on a high note.
Gordo has the next week off before taking on Hamilton.

Bryant, Brookwood wins first on the field
Paul W. Bryant and Brookwood, rivals in 6A Region 4, won their first on-field games 31-7 against Central and 76-35 against Sipsey Valley, respectively.
It’s the second straight win for PWB (2-4, 0-2) after Tennessee’s East Hamilton forfeited last week. Tobias Burrell once again showed why he is one of the top players in the Tuscaloosa region, scoring nine, 41 and 39 yards on receptions.
Brookwood’s high score affair marks the first win on the field since the last week of the 2019 season and the fifth overall since Bramblett took over two seasons ago. The score of 76 points is more than Brookwood (1-5, 0-3) in all of last season, 66 points.
PWB is home to Bessemer City and Brookwood is traveling to McAdory next Friday.
Aliceville is getting hot
The Yellow Jackets took a road win against Pickens County 39-32 after falling against another county rival, Gordo, a month earlier. Since Aliceville lost 40:31 to Gordo, Aliceville is 3: 1 and outperforms the opponents with 138-79. His only loss was 19-18 to Sulligent.
Aliceville is hosting Lamar County this Friday.
