Operating Trade Alliance and Out of doors Industries Affiliation set up working partnership

In the UK, the Running Industry Alliance (RIA) and the Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to focus on common goals.

A RIA press release said: “There are a number of natural areas of shared interest between the Running Industry Alliance and the Outdoor Industries Association, with the new working partnership between the two organizations focusing on trail running connectivity and outdoor pursuits overall, with all of that associated health and well-being benefits to their members’ audiences.

“A new lock-up logo was unveiled to support the announcement and all joint campaigns, with both organizations passionately committed to the motto ‘Together we are stronger’ and supporting each other and their respective members.

“RIA will work closely with OIA and support them with any campaign, collaboration or advocacy that can create a stronger presence and support a collaborative approach around the outdoors and running for health and wellbeing. RIA will actively support OIA’s outdoor strategy for central government where RIA and members can help.’

The organizations will promote each other through their channels and be present at each other’s conferences – with the OIA Annual Conference and AGM on September 7-8 and The Running Conference by RIA on September 11-13.

RIA co-leads Rebecca Richardson and Jonathan Midwood said: “We are delighted to have created this new working partnership that has been developed between the two organisations. There is a natural connection between running and the great outdoors and the physical and mental health benefits that come with it.

“There are several areas of mutual interest between RIA and OIA and we look forward to a positive, productive and enjoyable working relationship together and with the overall benefits to both our members and ultimately the wider audience.”

Andrew Denton, CEO of OIA added, “Signing a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Running Industry Alliance is an exciting step that will help us focus on common goals and our overall missions.

“Running and trail running in particular is part of the outdoor leisure sector and plays an important part in our vision of ‘Get Britain Active Outside’. The OIA is all about growing stronger through collaboration and we look forward to all that we can achieve together with the Running Industry Alliance.”
