DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE). Outdoor retailer of select hard outdoor gear (including hard and soft goods) in selected markets.
Founded in 2019 by Colorado native Barruch Ben-Zekry, Out&Back is creating a platform that offers a brand new experience for selling and buying used gear side-by-side in one convenient place. Specifically geared towards outdoor and adventure enthusiasts, the platform connects buyers and sellers to a world of used outdoor gear from brands such as Patagonia, Marmot, The North Face, Arc’teryx and new brands for 2022, Carhartt, Herschel Supply Co ., Pendleton, Roxy, Spyder and more.
“We started Out&Back because we knew there was an unmet need for outdoor and adventure gear resale,” said Barruch Ben-Zekry, Out&Back founder and CEO. “When we listened to the needs of our consumers, it became clear that an all-in-one platform including gear and accessories was the obvious next step for us. Since launching in 2019, we have seen 43% growth in the softgoods category and expect to see equal demand for outdoor and adventure hardgoods through our partnership with DICK’S and Public Lands.”
Through the pilot program being launched with DICK’S and Public Lands in two key outdoor markets – Denver, CO, and Pittsburgh, PA – Out&Back will begin selling in select locations (Public Lands in Cranberry Twp, PA; DICK’S Sporting Goods in Pittsburgh , PA (South Hills) and Lakewood, CO) Friday through Sunday to convert unwanted or unused gear into instant cash payments. In addition to previously accepted items such as outerwear, tents, backpacks and other soft goods, the newly accepted categories include skis and snowboards from Burton, Atomic, Bent Metal, Blizzard Tecnica, GNU, Nordica and more, with additional categories being added as the partnership evolves . As part of all gear buybacks, Out&Back and DICK’S are donating one percent of the value of the listings to 1% For The Planet, a not for profit organization dedicated to funding various environmental organizations working to protect the planet. The program will launch at Public Lands in Pittsburgh on April 29 and at DICK’S stores in Pittsburgh and Denver over the coming weeks.
“Working with Out&Back to empower people to explore the great outdoors while reducing our environmental footprint is a win-win,” said Peter Land, chief sustainability officer at DICK’S Sporting Goods.
DICK’S and Out&Back believe in creating a more sustainable, accessible shopping experience for everyone. By curating gear from across the web, the Out&Back platform offers an unparalleled shopping experience. With the simple sell-back tool, sellers can get instant offers without having to list products one by one. Out&Back takes products off your hands with free shipping labels and direct cash payment. While all buyers can count on a quality guarantee with a 30-day return policy on all items purchased, no questions asked.
Composed of a team of outdoor enthusiasts based in Denver, Colorado, Out&Back believes that exploring the great outdoors is one of humankind’s greatest joys and that there exists a world where one person’s unwanted gear becomes another’s new gear can become a person. Its mission is to keep gear out of landfills to minimize humanity’s environmental impact and instead keep it circulating to ensure adventures can continue for many years to come.
