LA CROSSE (WKBT) – A local organization is trying to get the community going.

The Outdoor Recreation Alliance, also known as ORA Trails, is working with contractors to set up a community trail farm.

The project has a simple mission: get people outside.

To accomplish this, the project will build a network of interconnected trails near the town of Shelby to make hiking and other outdoor activities more accessible.

“The unique location means we are surrounded by neighborhoods on almost all sides, allowing us to connect not only the entire property, but other trail systems and other neighborhoods throughout the community,” said Jed Olson, general manager of ORA Trails.

ORA Trails did not officially purchase the land for the project.

They plan to use grants and private donations to fund Trail Farm.

The campaign is worth six million dollars.
