Police have confirmed they were called to the Gamble building in St. Helens city center last night after reports of people climbed on the scaffolding.
Local residents said they saw officials at the building’s landmark in Victoria Square just before 10 p.m. last night.
Police reportedly turned flashlights onto the site to search for suspects, but no one was found.
Crews from the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were also called.
Significant scaffolding surrounds the gamble as the teams embark on an extensive repair program.
A police spokesman said, “We received a call at 9:55 pm to get reports of two men climbing a scaffold near the Gamble building.
“The police and MFRS were present, but no one was found.”
