Ponoka’s out of doors rink now open

The Outdoor Rink (ODR) adjacent to the Ponoka Arena Complex (4410 54 Street) is now open for the season.

The ice rink opened on November 28th.

Throughout the season, city crews will continue to maintain the ODR by flooding the ice surface and clearing snow as needed.

The outdoor lighting is on from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m

“City crews have worked hard to get the ODR up and running for the community and we are pleased to announce that the facility is open for the season,” said Sandra Lund, chief administrative officer, in a press release.

Public indoor skating and shiny hockey

Public ice skating and shinny hockey will continue to be offered at the arena on weekdays and weekends. To see a schedule, please visit www.ponoka.ca/p/ponoka-arena-complex.

Other outdoor activities are offered during the winter season, such as cross-country skiing at Ponoka Golf Course and the skating track at Lions Centennial Park.

Updates on when these activities begin for the season will be posted on the city’s website and social media.
