PORTLAND – This summer’s Maine Outdoor Film Festival is giving away cash prizes for Maine filmmakers: $ 500 for the best Maine film and $ 500 for the best Maine student film.

The festival has three film categories: short film (less than 12 minutes), short film (12:00 to 39:59), feature film (40 minutes and longer). The only requirement is that the submissions are an outdoor film.

“What is an outdoor movie?” asks MOFF director Nick Callanan rhetorically. “This allows for pretty broad strokes: any project that focuses on adventure, recreation, or nature conservation outdoors is sure to be considered. This could also apply to films that were largely made outdoors. However, the further the film deviates from topics related to outdoor sports or nature, the harder it is to consider it … the best. “

Best Maine Student Film – Filmmaker Requirements
• Must be an outdoor film accepted by the 2021 Maine Outdoor Film Festival.
• The filmmaker or filmmakers must be students enrolled in Maine high school or students from Maine attending an extra-state school in year 20 or 21.
