Cassie Quadrelli and Caliegh Walker are excited for their second year at River Rat Rentals. The two residents of Souris both love the outdoors and they felt they would combine their passion for outdoor recreation with their entrepreneurial spirit and community spirit to make it available to all. They are both in education and the vacation rentals during the summer months are the perfect fit for both of them.
Walker and her family live on the Souris River so this was the perfect location to offer water sports such as kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and pedal boats.
“In the winter of 2020 when things were in lockdown [because of Covid], we were talking about different things and we both love outdoor recreation and river activities and that’s how the idea came about,” explains Cassie Quadrelli. So we got started and had a great first summer and are excited to see what happens this summer and grow our business!”
Cruiser bikes will be added to the summer gear list and the winter rental plan will include fat bikes and snowshoes.
Quadrelli says they attract both local residents and visitors to Souris. “We were thrilled. We had people from all different areas and we were happy with that! People come and see how beautiful our park is and we got a lot of people paddling; also locals who don’t want to store gear anymore or they just don’t have the space. So it’s nice that we’re making adventure accessible to everyone!”
Recreational equipment can be rented by the day or by the hour.
