Search continues for lacking former UH scholar who disappeared throughout weekend tenting journey, officers say

HOUSTON – Investigators continue the search for a former University of Houston student who went missing while on a camping trip.

Aamir Ali, 22, went camping with some friends at Canyon Lake Texas, northeast of San Antonio, for the weekend.

He was last seen around 9pm on Friday walking alone.

His friends told investigators when they searched for him they found his clothing and personal belongings on the shore of the lake.

Aamir’s family said they are desperately looking for him and are concerned he may be injured. They hope others will join their quest to find him as well.

Quasam Ali, Aamir’s brother, told KPRC 2’s Brittany Jeffers that camping is a hobby for him.

“His phone, headphones, wallet … his clothes and t-shirt, pants and underwear were found at the lake. He hasn’t been seen since and we’ve been looking for him ever since,” Quasam said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Aamir Ali is asked to call the Comal County Sheriff’s Office at (830) 620-3400.
