“Many of the summer lifeguards will be leaving to go back to college or to start fall activities. The pool closure schedule allows for the safe management of the pools with the number of staff available. This year’s closure dates align with our schedules for previous years,” says Jean Pearson, Leisure Program Coordinator. “Every year our goal is to keep one or two pools open until the Sunday before Labor Day.”

  • Lap swimming and water walking at the Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center will continue weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. through Friday, August 19, 2022.
  • From Monday, August 15 to September 4, 2022, the Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center will be open Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 8pm
  • Pioneer Spray Park at 1800 East Walnut Street is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. through September 4, 2022 (weather permitting).

The relaxation pool, hot water pool and outdoor paddling pool remain open during operating hours.

A fun event at the end of the outdoor pool season is also planned at two locations: Swimming in front of the dogs will take place on the following dates and locations:
