From cleats to shoulder pads, if you have a kid in sports you’re probably struggling to find some of their gear this season.
SCRANTON, Pa. – Parents looking for athletic gear for their kids this season have found some happiness at Battaglia in Scranton.
“In the last three, four months, a lot of people came here who were elsewhere and on the internet. ‘Can’t find it so we’re coming to you,’ owner Paul Ezbiansky said.
But that doesn’t mean they were here without problems. Ezbiansky says he and his staff spend a lot of time on the phone.
“We fight every day,” Ezbiansky said. “We’re on the phone with companies. ‘When do we get this? When do we get this?’ It’s right across the board from baseball gloves to footballs to t-shirts.”
And prices across the board are through the roof too, mainly due to higher shipping costs.
“There’s probably no item that we haven’t had to raise prices for.”
But Ezbiansky says they’re in better shape than some larger companies. That’s why customers come to him.
“Since we’re a small company we can be kind of flexible, so we can call different people, take smaller amounts, so we’ve been pretty good.”
For the summer and fall sports seasons, they ordered lots of soccer gear, soccer balls, and shoulder pads, according to Ezbiansky. All that matters is that the products arrive on time.
