Statewide Complete Outside Recreation Plan out for public overview and remark

BOISE, Idaho (KIFI) – The Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) identifies opportunities for outdoor recreation and allows the state and partners access to federal grants to improve parks, playgrounds and other facilities.

A draft of the 2023-2027 plan is available on the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation’s website, where the plan and supporting documents can be accessed. The site also has an electronic form for submitting comments.

The comment period closes on July 18, 2022, after which time feedback will be incorporated into the final plan, which will be sent to the National Park Service for review and approval.

An approved plan allows the department and its partners to access approximately $10 to $12 million per year in grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund and other sources to fund the acquisition and development of hiking trails, playgrounds, ball fields and Support other organizations to improve outdoor recreation throughout Idaho.
