Today is a day of transition from comfortable spring temperatures to our summer preview later this week. This morning is calm and pleasant with mostly clear skies. Sunshine isn’t going anywhere today as highs hit the mid 80’s. A weak disturbance will sweep past North Alabama on Wednesday. For almost everyone, this disruption brings nothing more than additional cloud cover. However, one or two showers cannot be ruled out. Despite the clouds, Wednesday will be even warmer with highs in the upper 80’s. Cloud cover earlier in the day might prevent us from reaching 90 tomorrow, but it will certainly be close!
Thursday brings another chance for northern Alabama to hit 90 degrees with more sunshine. Luckily we’re not expecting the “air you can wear” humidity that usually accompanies these warm temperatures, but you still need to stay hydrated and wear the sunscreen when spending time outdoors! A cutoff low meandering in the Atlantic this morning will push back west over the Carolinas on Friday. The western extent of humidity at this low is still in question, but some showers are possible on Saturday. At the same time, a cold front will arrive in our area from the plains on Sunday, increasing the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday and possibly Monday. Highs stay in the 80s, lows stay in the 60s.
