Video shows flames erupting from the apartment as MP William Puzynski scaled the second floor balcony, took the baby from her mother and passed the child to other MPs on the floor.

“Just before he climbed the building, Deputy Puzynski removed his heavy outer ballistic vest, which has his camera attached to make his climb easier. It is an amazing twist of fate that the camera was able to capture what happened next,” the release said.

Puzynski shared his brave experience CNN affiliate WKMG: “When I got here, we saw the building completely engulfed. Chaos reigned everywhere.”

“After that, when the mom came and found me, she actually hugged me, so it was a treat,” he said. “It’s a different feeling. Some nights you go home not really knowing if you’ve made a difference, but in situations like this you feel it.”

The baby’s mother and grandmother were rescued using a ladder, according to the sheriff’s office. No casualties were reported from the scene and no MPs were injured during the blaze, officials said.
