Wheeler Dealers Camping Club members kicked off the camping season with a campout in March at Hulah Lake between Pawhuska and Bartlesville. Wah Sha She Campground on Hulah Lake is managed by the Hulah Osage Lake Association. Ten rigs participated. This first camp of the season was hosted by Jon and Kathy Tippin, Ponca City, and Joe and Pat Brown, Bartlesville.

Some members arrived on Wednesday and Thursday, the rest on Friday. On Thursday afternoon, some members played several rounds of Mexican Train in the building rented at the campground. That evening some of the members went to the Mexican restaurant El Jalisco in Pawhuska for dinner.

On Friday, members visited the Hulah Senior Center for lunch and in the afternoon, members played bingo for prizes provided by the host couples. That evening, Wheeler Dealers gathered at the Copan Truck Stop Restaurant for dinner, and many enjoyed the prime rib special and delicious homemade cakes.

On Saturday the group visited Pawhuska, starting with breakfast at the Mercantile and doing some shopping there. This was followed by a visit to The Lodge overlooking the beautiful Osage Hills where The Pioneer Woman show is filmed. Some of the women then went back to Pawhuska to continue shopping at the unique shops. That night, the traditional potluck dinner consisted of hot dogs and homemade chili provided by the campout hosts along with side dishes from other Wheeler Dealers members. After dinner, the group played the last few rounds of bingo for prizes and then joined them around the campfire.

On Sunday morning the campout ended with a delicious breakfast and a business meeting. Plans have been made for the April campout at Sand Hills State Park, Hutchinson, KS. A minute’s silence was held for member John Davis, who passed away earlier this month.

Most campouts take place in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, or Missouri, with two or more couples planning the location and campout activities, which often include visiting area attractions, eating at a local restaurant, games, and pot- Lucky meals include.
