“We are excited to work with the Y to further expand our sports community,” said Kevin Murphy, General Manager of Wilson Team Sports. “By harnessing the power of play, we can bring kids into our Wilson family even younger and give them all the opportunities that sport can offer on and off the pitch.”

Together, Wilson and the YMCA began their relationship in Wilson’s hometown earlier this month Chicago with the YMCA from Metropolitan Chicago. Together with The Dreamville Chi-League Powered by Wilson, Wilson hosted three youth clinics run by local coaches and Chi-League organizers, as well as a town hall in the South Side YMCA. Proceeds from the legendary Pro-Am, which ends tomorrow at Chicago State University, benefit the YMCA.

“For generations, YMCA youth sports programs have helped children and teenagers get and stay active, gain confidence and develop good sport and teammate behavior,” said Kevin Washington, President and CEO of Y-United States of America. “This partnership with Wilson will help YMCAs expand these opportunities to young people in marginalized communities who may otherwise not have access to them.

While the partnership with basketball has been central, Wilson and the Y will be expanding the program to other sports in the coming months. Wilson’s youth program with the YMCA complements the brand’s ongoing alliance efforts, which include a high school program with the Thunder Fellows and a college program – Gigs for Game Changers – with the Winning Edge Leadership Academy.

Wilson’s program with the YMCA is expected to reach three markets per year, with The angel and Cleveland planned for the coming months.
