MACOMB, IL — Students in the Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration at Western Illinois University conceived Camp Rocky’s Outdoor Olympics, a free day camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, for youth in first through fourth graders.
The Camp Rocky program has been offered to local youth at WIU’s Horn Field campus at 985 China Road in Macomb for more than 15 years. The camp is a lesson for WIU students in planning and delivering a quality youth camp experience.
The day camp includes a variety of Olympic-style events focused on unique outdoor activities such as: B. a climbing wall, nature walks, arts and crafts and group games.
“We’re here to provide a fun outdoor experience for the youth of Macomb,” said Hannah Johnson, RPTA graduate and Camp Rocky director. “Campers even learn how to cook their lunch and snacks over a campfire.”
Registration is limited to 20 campers and can be completed at bit.ly/CampRocky.
