LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WKBT) – Local children are learning how much fun they can have outside.

La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department hosted its 12th annual Youth Outdoor Fest at Pettibone Park on Saturday.

During the event, children could try archery, fishing and kayaking.

While the festival only lasts for one day, organizers say it can have an impact that lasts much longer.

“This just gives youngsters an opportunity to maybe one day have a dream of what they want to do in their future,” said Hunter Elsen, special events coordinator for La Crosse Parks, Recreation and Forestry.

The event last took place in 2019.
